Bio
Kat Dalene Weil holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Bachelor of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design. Kat currently resides in East Hampton, NY with her family. The unique lighting and landscape of the east end of Long Island inspire her daily.
Recent paintings are mixed media collage on various surfaces. The process starts with the layering of magazine images from National Geographic Magazine. The base of the each painting is layered with trace paper, paint, and pencil. Content and history contained in the magazine articles inspires the direction of the work and the title of the piece, not literally, but subconsciously. Emotion drives the image making which is sometimes reminiscent of a landscape. Commissioned art can be created with specific months and years from the magazine archives as the base of the piece.
